Day 42
Got to go to a Conversation With Jane Lynch, she was so funny and just seems like such a nice person! Afterward Lisa, Chrissy, and I went to the reception but she wasn't there... But since we had so much time to kill we got some free drinks, I like stuff that's free! We then just wandered up and down sunset strip until it started to rain! I thought it didn't rain in LA? But LA has been full of surprises like how I thought it was warm and sunny all the time, that's a negative! After that we headed up to Hollywood Blvd to meet up with some friends of Chrissy's so we went to Grauman's, I just can't wait to have my hand and footprints there! Finally it was time to head over to the Comedy Store for the show. We saw the voice of Roger Rabbit perform before Pauly came on. I saw Pauly and talked to him before the show and he said he'd come over after to say bye and meet my friends. Pauly was so funny I think knowing him makes it all funnier to me. But afterward he came over and met Chrissy and Lisa. The people behind us were staring and pointing at Pauly. That's right I know a celeb, even if it is Pauly, but I love that man! He told Lisa and Chrissy that he loved them then he kissed me again, this time on the cheek. His facial hair tickled he needs a shave! Then later we saw Chris D'Elia who is hilarious! Everyone should check him out he's so going to be the next Dane Cook!!!

Day 43
Lisa's last day :( We went up to the Hollywood sign and then drove around Burbank and saw the Brady Bunch house and Disney Studio's. Later that night I had to take Lisa to the airport after a fun-filled week of Hoolywood and celebs!

Day 44
Yet again didn't have to go into the casting office... But Pauly and I had our photo shoot! That was lots of fun, I just love spending time with him! Then went to Target and saw Joseph Cross (from Running With Scissors, Jack Frost, and Flags of Our Fathers), right after seeing him I ran into Courtney, and then we saw Jane Lynch! I told her how I went to her talk on Saturday and that I really enjoyed it, she said thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it and smiled at me. I then asked for a picture and she politely said no by saying well it was nice meeting you, hope to see you soon. Oh well... Courtney and I then headed over to the Hollywood museum but they were closed! So we went to Ripley's believe it or not instead... We also ate at the Disney Soda Fountain Shoppe which is just so adorable! That night we went to one of her lectures with special guest Beverly Sanders who was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, is now on Entourage, and use to take acting classes with Marylin Monroe! She was awesome and had some very interesting stories!

Day 45
Went into the casting office since we now finally have projects, we're getting ready to cast a Christmas movie. But after work I headed over to the Inception premiere and got Leonardo DiCaprio's autograph and he touched my hand because I was holding out my paper for him to sign and the girls beside me were screaming and jumping up and down so he had to hold my hand still in order to sign for me. Simply amazing, words cannot describe! I just love and adore Leo, I've had a crush on him since 3rd grade and use to have a Titanic poster of him in my room!

Day 46
Spent the day in bed hanging out with Bennie. All this excitement has wore me out! I haven't gotten much sleep the past couple weeks and I just needed a day of rest. But later that night Cassandra and I headed over to the Improv for celebrity juice night, and who does our celebrity turn out to be?! Bob freaking Saget! He was so funny, but while he was performing I really had to go to the bathroom but I didn't want to get up because 1. people who do get heckled and 2. I wanted to see his set. So as soon as he was done I headed to the bathroom, but Bob Saget came out right behind me. I heard him saying how his set sucked and that it was a mess, so I turned around and told him how much I liked it and how funny I thought he was. He then started talking to me about how he wanted to get back into doing stand-up more, like he use to. So I asked him if he was going to come to the Comedy Store, and he said yeah I'd like to but why that club in-particular? I then told him how I work for Pauly which lead into a whole bunch of stuff so we talked for a little bit. Then I asked for a picture which he was super nice about! Then on my way back into the club I ran into Ari, who I work with at Pauly's. I love how in a city of 11 million people where I only know a small handful I always seem to run into people I know!

Day 47
I never want to leave Landing Patch I love love love it so much! I told everyone about my Bob Saget run in, because I want him to come play at the Comedy Store so Tommy the talent coordinator told me to email Bob and tell him he's welcome to perform anytime! So I emailed Bob Saget's personal email account! I told him how we met the other night and the message from Tommy and some other stuff and that I wanted to see him perform. I also attached our picture so he'd remember me, I'm still waiting to hear back! :) So, I have never loved working anywhere before, I look forward to coming into work, and even come in to help out on days I don't have too! This is the place for me, just one more year until I'm back, but the good thing is I get to see/visit with Pauly in October and then again in the spring! I don't know if I could go a whole year without seeing that man!

Day 31
Yet again I did not have to go to the casting agency, so I drove up to Hollywood and went to see the Hollywood Bowl. Then I went over to Jimmy Kimmel and met Nikki Reed who was so nice and sweet she ignored all the paps and autograph seekers and focused on the fans which, made me really happy!

Day 32
Courtney and I went to Universal Studios and are now best friends, since we both want to be famous someday! We also saw the character Donkey and the guy inside the suit loved us and kept talking to us forever! Later that night I headed over to LAX to meet up with Heather who was only in LA for a few hours on her way to New Zealand! But it was so nice getting to see a friend from school! Then I went over to a comedy club with Cassandra to check out this comedian who raps his jokes, called DJ Mr. Napkins.

Day 33
Pauly was out of town but kept calling me every 5 minutes because I wasn't doing whatever it was he had me doing right, because he gives such vague instructions, which got really frustrating. But I did get two free shirts from work, shhh don't tell Pauly! I then bought Son In Law, which was Pauly's favorite film to make and watched it. I actually enjoyed it and though it was really funny!

Day 34
We only had a half day due to the holiday weekend, so after work I was so tired so I took a nap but then went with Cassandra to get her new bike. Afterward we went to In N Out and I got a grilled cheese which was quite tasty!

Day 35
Went to see Eclipse!!! LOVED IT! I cannot wait to see it again! After that I came back to my apartment to get ready for Lisa to come visit! And much later that night I went and picked her up from the airport! :)

Day 36
Lisa and I went to Venice Beach for the 4th. It was really crowded with lots of weird people, they even had a freak show with 23 two headed animals of some kind! We saw Muscle Beach and the huge beefed up people which I was really excited about! Lisa put her feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time, it was really cold! That night we went over to Exposition Park to watch an hour long fireworks show!

Day 37
Went up to Hollywood to show Lisa the Stars and Grauman's Chinese Theater. We then went to the wax museum which was a lot of fun to take our pictures with all the celebs! It was like being a kid in a candy shop! Earlier while we were walking up the walk of fame Andy Milanakas walked by us and said "no pictures, no pictures" he was referring to the stars by the time we realized who it was he had already walked away, oh well...

Day 38
Finally I went into the casting office! Since we were preparing to cast a dog commercial they actually needed people and had stuff for me to do. But before work Lisa and I went to the Natural History Museum, I have never seen so many people crammed into one museum it was overwhelming! The main reason we went was to see the movie memorabilia like one of W.C. Fields hats, a hand written script by D.W. Griffith, Fred Astaire's tap shoes, and Walt Disney's desk from his childhood room where he first drew Mickey Mouse. But it was closed off! We did enjoy the rest of the museum despite that and all the people!

Day 39
Lisa and I went and did the Sony Pictures tour which was so good! We were both a little skeptical at first but it turns out Sony owns Columbia Pictures and Tristar Entertainment. Also the lot where Sony is now located use to be MGM. So I got to stand in the same recording stage where Judy Garland recorded Somewhere Over the Rainbow, also got to go to the stage where they filmed The Wizard of Oz, A Day at the Races, Cast Away, and many more. We got to visit the set of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. AND we saw Jonah Hill he waved and said "Hi" as he rode by in his golf cart. We also walked by Happy Madison productions which is Adam Sandler's production company we saw his car and golf cart but no Adam... That night we went to The Comedy Store, since I get in for free! We saw Bobby Lee who was so funny and some other comedians some were funny some weren't, I'm excited to see Pauly perform this weekend though!

Day 40
Pauly was in town this week, so of course the other intern called in sick! Now don't get me wrong I love working with Pauly but I do not love being the only intern. When I'm the only one there it just means I have to do all of Pauly's stuff and Dan's which is overwhelming but gives me a taste of the real world. My main task was making a master-list/excel sheet of every city and club Pauly has performed at in the last four years. But something exciting, Pauly finally remembered my name, I was working at my desk and I heard him say "Sydney?" like he wasn't sure if that was my name or not. Also Butter, Pauly's dog came into work she loved me and was laying at my feet all day.

Day 41
Yes!! Another intern came in and I was not left alone! We have just been so so busy at Pauly's it's been stressful. Didn't do anything exciting, had to help Pauly with a couple phone-in interviews but other than that my tasks were kind of boring. Just read a bunch of breakdowns which I do everyday (breakdowns are a list of up-coming movies and T.V.shows that are casting, they consist of characters, character descriptions and a summary of the project). When we had a lull between interviews since Pauly is still promoting Adopted everyone always ask him if he wants to adopt, which he doesn't. Anyway he started playing with my hair and was like "Maybe I should just adopt you. You've got my hair everyone would probably believe you were my child." We then talked about how my hair made him miss his old hairstyle from the 90's and how it made him want to grow it back. I think it might look silly on him now since he's older. Also, he discovered that I'm ticklish! Therefore he kept walking by and tickling me all day, especially my neck! After work I head over to a movie premiere of Lisa's mom's best friends cousin. The movie was called Stan, it was cute I liked it. Also we chose a very good place to sit right next to Mr. Laritate from Wizards of Waverly Place! We became very good friends he's actually coming to Wilmington at the end of august to work with some kids on acting we exchanged info and we're going to meet up when he comes to town. He's also teaching a class here in LA in two weeks and I can go for free! Very very exciting evening!

Day 24
Things were still super slow at the casting office, so yet again I had the day off. So what do I do? Why go to another graveyard. What can I say it's free and something I don't mind doing by myself. So I saw where a bunch of celebrities are buried yet again, and walked around for over 3 hours trying to find everyone. So at least I got some exercise out of it.

Day 25
JIMMY KIMMEL DAY! Got to go to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live with special guest Ashley Greene and a performance by Minus The Bear. Ashley Greene is so pretty! The studio also looks a lot bigger in real life than on T.V. The lobby of Jimmy Kimmel also has the same carpet as our media room. After that I ventured over to The Staples Center to try and catch Sylvester Stallone who was kind of a jerk. There were only 3 of us that wanted pictures and he wouldn't take them, but he did sign autographs for the autograph seekers (they get autographs of celebs then sell them for a profit)... But I then met Ewan McGregor as he was leaving a movie, he was so freaking nice and has the most attractive accent!

Day 26
One of the best days at work so far! So while at work for Pauly, I was working on something for him when he comes over to me. He bends down to my level (if only you could hear the tone of what I'm about to type) and gets right up in my face and says,

Pauly: "What are you doing little girl?"
Me: "Working on stuff for you."
Pauly: "Well come with me little girl I have a project for us to work on in my office."
Me: (Laughing) "Do you know how creepy you just sounded?!"
Ari (another intern): (Laughing) "That did sound really creepy dude."
Pauly: "Oh really? Haha... yeah but I really do have something for us to work on in my office."
So I go into his office and spent the whole day working on the new script for his MTV pilot. Which was so much fun and I had such an amazing time working one-on-one with Pauly. Pauly also can't seem to remember my name so he just calls me Babe, and likes to pet my head. But he only touches the people he likes, which is good for me, because that means he likes me!

Day 27
It's so strange to think that so many people would love to be in my position. Sitting on a bench/couch right next to Pauly going over a script and every time he gets an idea he just starts tapping me and hands me the pen to make whatever change since I can't read his handwriting and neither can he. Because to me he's just Pauly, a regular guy who happens to be a comedian/actor and my boss. He also told my other boss that he likes me a lot, which is awesome for me! More awesomeness is that some of my ideas actually made it into the script AND Pauly told me that he thinks I'm funny! Which is amazing to be told that by a professional comedian! But yeah I just had so much fun working one-on-one with him, but he decided to end the day awkwardly by kissing me on the top of my head. Later when I got back to my apartment, having never seen one of Pauly's movies except Adopted, which I got a copy of from work, I decided it was time to watch his movies since everyone quotes them all the time. I watched Encino Man (which he cracked me up in that movie!) and Bio-Dome. It's so funny to watch him in those because he doesn't really talk like that in real-life although I wish he did. It would make work just that much more entertaining!

Day 28
Went to Universal Studios with Chrissy which was a blasty-blast! We rode the Mummy ride, saw the Water World show, and took a studio tour of the backlot. We then headed over to Hollywood Forever Cemetery for their outdoor movie, Midnight Cowboy. They show the movie in Fairbanks Garden which I thought was very appropriate, if you know who Douglas Fairbanks and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. are. I had never seen Midnight Cowboy before and I really like it. I loved Dustin Hoffman's performance in the film, I just wanted to give him a great big hug! Also before the film started I saw this kid sitting to our left and it took me a while to realize who he was but he was on a couple episodes of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and in 17 Again.

Day 29
Went to the Despicable Me premiere! I got to see Julie Andrews, Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, and Jason Segel. Although I was sitting a couple rows behind them, they checked our cameras at the door (even though I snuck mine in), we also weren't allowed to have our phones out, we all had to be seated before they brought the actors in, and we took a different exit from the actors... so I didn't get to talk to them or take pictures with/of them. Although I did meet James Marsden who is so freaking good looking and nice. I also got pictures with a bunch of people from The Office, but a lot of the bigger celebrities left in a hurry to avoid the paparazzi. So after that I went over to the Grove with Jen, it's so pretty there so we walked around and took lots of pictures. Then I came back to my apartment and watched another Pauly Shore movie, In The Army Now. Pauly was so cute in the early 90's unfortunately he didn't age very well...

Day 30
Didn't really do much, went to Trader Joe's and got Joe's O's which are very tasty. Then Chrissy came over and we watched Sunset Blvd. which seemed very fitting considering I'm in Hollywood, and The Comedy Store (where I work) is located on Sunset. Plus I just love William Holden!

I'm saddened that I only have a little over a month left. I'm having so much freaking fun out here and even though I miss all my friends and family I kind of don't want to leave...

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Day 18
My day off, so I went to the Beverly Hills Center Mall to walk around and shop, it was so big and overwhelming, and it has every store known to man in it! I then stopped in pinkberry for the first time it was freaking delicious! I had mango frozen yogurt topped with mango, kiwi, and granola.

Day 19
Went to work for Pauly, who was out of town so I didn't really have much to do so I got off early. On my way back to my apartment I see this kid in the car next to me who looks familiar. I then realize it's Greg Sulken from Wizards of Waverly Place, I lean out the window and ask him, he says yes I am, and so I responded with oh hey what's up. He was coming from the casting agency where I work, I really wanted to ask how his audition went since I knew who and what he was reading for. But I thought it would be super creepy if I did, now the only reason I knew this was because I made the schedule! Later, living like 5 blocks from the Staples Center I heard tons of yelling, honking, and fireworks because the Lakers won the championship. But since I don't really care I went over to Chrissy's to watch Whip It!

Day 20
Spent the day putting together all the paper work in order to get Pauly nominated for a Star on the Walk of Fame. Then after work headed over to the Water For Elephants set, which is the new Rob Pattinson movie, I didn't see Rob but I did see Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz as they left set.

Day 21
With nothing to do I just decided to go drive around and ended up in Westwood and walked around. I found a store with so many I Love Lucy things and other movie stuff it was very exciting!

Day 22
Headed up to Hollywood with Chrissy, we went over and saw the Cunningham's house from Happy Days! Then we just walked around and saw stars, and the handprints/footprints, and ate at the French Dip and then got a cream puff that was scrumptious!

Day 23
Since my boss is trying to get a new movie to cast, work was really slow so they called me and told me that they didn't need me to come in. So how did I decide to spend my day off?! By going to the cemetery of course! I went and saw where a bunch of celebs are buried, and where fans have kissed Marilyn Monroe's grave, which is kind of creepy considering her rotting corps is on the other side of that marble wall. Then I headed over to the LA Film Festival where they were having an event entitled A Conversation with Ben Affleck, advanced tickets were sold out but they said I could come and stand in line for stand-by tickets. I ended up getting the last ticket! Ben Affleck talked about directing and acting in films, and about his new film The Town, with Jeremy Renner who was also there and came up and talked as well. I got to see 4 clips of the film and the trailer, it looks good but intense. Like The Departed meets... I don't know what but somewhere along those lines. They both seemed very nice and were really funny, and surprisingly Ben Affleck seemed humble. Then as I was leaving the event John Legend walk right in front of me, unfortunately my flash was off and I got a really blurry picture. I then met Jeremy Renner, he was so nice. He stared at me while I was talking to him, it was like he was trying to remember my face, and he had his arm around me while we were talking. So anyways he is now my new celebrity crush!

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Day 14
At work we're trying to promote Pauly, so the other interns and I had to try and come up with ideas for youtube video's that Pauly can make. Therefore I spent the day watching youtube videos to get inspired. Later that night my roommate and I went out to this local bar called 9-0, where all the USC kids hang out. It was pretty dead when we got there but got busier. Ben sang karaoke, but I spared everyone my singing.

Day 15
Some boys down the hall invited Ben and I over to watch the USA vs England game, so I got to make some new friends. Then Ben, Cassandra, and I drove out to Malibu, unfortunately it was kind of cold, which is not good beach weather. Then with nothing else to do, my roommate and I watched a screener of my bosses new movie, Adopted. It was just ok, had some funny parts but nothing amazing.

Day 16
TOY STORY 3 PREMIERE! Got to see all the voices of the Toy Story characters, as well as my new bff Tom! Really wanted a picture with Tim Allen, but that didn't happen. Got to meet lots of other celebs and get pictures with them though! One day I'll be on the red carpet and people will be lined up outside to see me!

Day 17
Didn't have much to do at work, so just talked to my co-workers and hung out. I did get to answer the phone when Wes Craven called, he's a director and has directed all the Scream movies. After work headed over to Jimmy Kimmel where Rob Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart were guest. After the show they came outside with the majority of the cast and did a Q&A. Unfortunately afterward I stood in the wrong spot and missed getting a picture with Rob, Taylor, and Ashley Greene. Although I did get to see Taylor close up as he walked by me!!!

First Days in LA

So with the numerous suggestions from my mom, and all the facebook comments containing questions I am starting a blog. I have never written a blog before so we'll see how long this last... I have been in LA for 13 days and here is a little recap,

Day 1
Arrived at LAX and when getting off the plan I saw that Kellan Lutz (Emmett from the Twilight movies) was on my flight. He was very nice, and super cute. He even said "hi" to Bennie (yes Bennie is in LA with me as well). After settling into the hotel my dad and I went over to the Santa Monica pier and had some drinks.

Day 2
Still being jet-lagged we woke up early so we took a drive in Beverly Hills. Let me tell you there is NO recession there, everyone has expensive cars and is rebuilding and expanding houses like there's no tomorrow. We then took a drive to find where my internships were located. I am working for Nancy Nayor casting, she's done a bunch of movies (feel free to look her up on imdb). Right now she's casting Scream 4 and Knights of Badassdom. I am also interning for Pauly Shore's production company. Yes, Pauly is my boss, he's very nice and really funny and although I've never seen one of his movies he is just like you'd expect him to be. We then headed over to the La Brea tar pit which is a tar pit that a bunch of mammals that are now extinct got stuck in and died. After that we went over to check out my new apartment which is two blocks from USC. We then drove down to Long Beach to see some old friends which was nice. For dinner we ate at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, Spago, it was delicious! I once saw Sidney Poitier there when I was 12.

Day 3
After dropping dad off at the airport I headed over to Santa Monica beach with Chrissy to work on our tans. I told my mom it was like being in Mexico, nobody spoke English!

Day 4
Just spent the day settling in and hanging out at the apartment with Bennie.

Day 5
Woke up to find a parking ticket on my car, apparently they clean the streets here in LA. But it was my first day at Nancy Nayor, I made schedule's for actors to come in and audition and just learned the ropes. Got to meet Fred Armisen from SNL, had to tell him to move his car and got him a highlighter. Also saw Lacey Chabert who plays Gretchen in Mean Girls and was the voice of Eliza Thornberry in the Wild Thornberrys, she is so pretty.

Day 6
First day working for Pauly, again just did small stuff like emails, scanning stuff, and of course met Pauly.

Day 7
Second day working for Pauly, did some stuff to promote his new movie watched some clips he has coming out. It all looks pretty funny I'm excited to see the film. Ate lunch at Mel's Drive-In where they filmed American Graffiti and Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. Had the most amazing grilled cheese there! It had four types of cheese, so I'm for sure going back!

Day 8
My car, that was being shipped out, finally came so I had to take my rental to the return place. Simon and Rob came to pick me up we then went out to Islands and caught up over drinks and a late lunch. Then spent the rest of the night being lame and hanging out at the apartment since all my friends we either working or out of town.

Day 9
Was bored so I decided to go up to Hollywood Blvd and take a walk where all the stars are. Eventually made my way up to Grauman's Chinese Theater, got to see some of my favorite's like Cary Grant and the Marx Brothers. I also went a little crazy with picture taking... Later with nothing else to do I headed over to the MTV Movie Awards with hopes of seeing some celebs, and what happens? This guy gives me his afterparty pass so I got to go! It was awesome got to meet Twilight people as well as others, saw the cast of Jersey Shore (minus Snookie) and the cast of the Hills.

Day 10
Working again for Nancy, Alexa Vega from the Spy Kids movies came in to audition, and told me there is going to be a Spy Kids 4 movie. I guess if it keeps making money... I mean she came in to audition for Scream 4. Later that night headed over to The Grove with Cassandra and had drinks outside and watched a Bellagio type water show, then Christina came and met up with us when she got off work at Cheesecake Factory.

Day 11
Work for Nancy again, nobody that I recognized came into audition, had to go through this gigantic book with this girl to pick out leading actors. Then on my way back from work what do I come across but the True Blood premiere!!! So of course I parked and hurried over to see what was going on and got to see and meet loads of people! It was so cool!

Day 12
My day off, so I went to see what was going on around town and found the new Tom Hanks movie. I was talking to a couple crew guys and telling them how I was a film major so they let me on set. Met George Takei, he is very nice but didn't do the star trek hand thing for me. Also met Maria Canals-Barrera, who is on Disney Channel. She is so nice and super sweet. Then Tom Hanks, now he was very busy because he is the director, producer, writer, and star of the film. He wasn't even suppose to take a picture with me but did anyway, I only got to talk to him for a minute because he was so swamped but he was very nice and friendly. After that exciting event I came back to my apartment to have a nice evening just hanging out with my roomie.

Day 13
Thursday, work for Pauly day, Pauly is in New York promoting his new movie so the office was pretty quiet today. Didn't do much today but some random tasks and just hung out and talked with the other employees. Had lunch down the street at Carney's which is a fastfood type restaurant that is a traincar that has been converted into a restaurant, Mel's is way better! Then met Lucas Till from the Hannah Montana Movie, he was also in Taylor Swift's music video and Walk the Line. I also saw Beau Mirchoff, he plays Danny Bolen, Angie's son on Desperate Housewives.

Now I'm sitting at the apartment writing this blog. Wow it's long! But that has been my 13 days in LA so far. Stuff I have coming up is the Toy Story 3 premiere on Sunday, and tickets to see Ashley Greene on Jimmy Kimmel Live in a couple weeks.
